Cancer: Thriving & Surviving Workshops Announced

University of Nevada's Sanford Center for Aging has just launched their FREE Thriving & Surviving Workshops
ONLINE for Spring 2020 the Cancer: Thriving and Surviving workshops meet weekly for two and a half hours. Each workshop is facilitated by two trained leaders, one or both of whom are cancer survivors or caregivers of cancer survivors. Each workshop is interactive. Classes are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants' confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives.

Cancer: Thriving and Surviving Workshop topics include:
- Better communication with family, friends, co-workers and providers
- Managing emotions and relationships
- Managing fatigue
- Effects of treatment
- Healthy eating
- Creating a physical activity program
- Managing stress
- Working with healthcare providers
After taking this workshop participants have reported significant changes in:
- Insomnia
- Exercise
- Fatigue
- Visits to physicians
- Communication with physicians
- Depression
Who should participate in Cancer: Thriving and Surviving?
Anyone living with cancer (newly diagnosed, in treatment, or in remission) or providing care for someone with cancer.

The next Cancer: Thriving and Surviving workshop will be Tuesdays, May 12 to June 23, 2020, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The online workshops will be conducted using Zoom video conferencing.
