Summit Speaker Series: Wolfram Samlowski, MD, FACP

The 2016 Nevada Cancer Control Summit brings together expert speakers from throughout the region to discuss the latest topics in cancer control. In the months leading up to this year’s Summit, scheduled for September 15 at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, join us to learn more about our roster of speakers.
Melanoma rates are on the rise, and with programs such as our own Sun Smart Nevada, many organizations are beginning to refocus on sun safety and prevention. However, melanoma treatment is key to reducing the mortality of this deadliest of skin cancers. Dr. Wolfram Samlowski, a medical oncologist at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), will present about his work in melanoma research and treatment at this year’s Summit.
Dr. Samlowski is an expert in treating patients with melanoma and skin cancer, kidney cancer, sarcoma and serves as principle investigator on several clinical research studies available at CCCN. Prior to joining CCCN, Dr. Samlowski was Professor of Oncology and Adjunct Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at the Huntsman Cancer institute of the University of Utah. Dr. Samlowski also served as director of Translational Research, Multidisciplinary Melanoma program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he worked from 1984 to 2007. In 2007, he joined the Nevada Cancer Institute as Chief of Melanoma, Renal Cancer and Immunotherapy, and was appointed Professor of Oncology. He also serves as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Dr. Samlowski has contributed to and authored over 250 publications, peer reviews and abstracts. He is a member of several professional associations including the American Federation of Clinical Research, American Society for Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, Society for Pigment Cell and Melanoma Research. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
