Thrive Kitchen: Welcome, and Rx Fruits and Veggies
11 November, 2021
This month we're kicking off a new ThriveNV feature: Thrive Kitchen. It's an opportunity to focus on food--what's healthy, delicious and helpful for survivors, thrivers and caregivers. We'll share information on local, regional, and national programs, tips and recipes from experts in Nevada, and more.
Access to fruits and vegetables is so important in keeping us healthy, especially when managing chronic conditions such as cancer. "Eating the rainbow," as it's called, can provide nutrients to improve health and make us feel better. (There's something to be said for staying regular, too, if you know what we mean.)
ThriveNV partners at Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican know that for some, accessing healthy foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, can be a challenge. They've launched FVRx, a Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program to provide a "prescription" for fresh produce delivered to your doorstep.
The program is free for eligible participants and includes a box of fresh, locally grown produce delivered twice a month for up to six months.
To learn more about the program or see if you qualify, contact Jemaima at Dignity Health, jemaima.tagayuna@dignityhealth.org or 702-620-7800.
